Dosing GuideStarting Your Patients on COMTAN® (entacapone) Tablets
- Easy to Start

- Easy to Manage
- COMTAN should be used only in conjunction with carbidopa/levodopa therapy
- COMTAN should not be titrated
- Maximum dosage: 8 tablets per day
- Effective from the first dose
- Add 1 COMTAN tablet with each administration of carbidopa/levodopa
regardless of frequency (up to 8 per day) or formulation.

- To manage dopaminergic side effects, reductions in the levodopa dose or dosing frequency may be necessary
- No liver monitoring or other lab tests are mandatory
- No interactions reported in clinical trials with other antiparkinsonian drugs such as dopamine agonists, anticholinergics, amantadine, and selegiline
- Patients may experience a brownish orange discoloration of the urine, which is a harmless side effect
